Help Hurricane Katrina Victims Rebuild

Millions of people from the Gulf Coast are suffering from the devastation of this hurricane season; victims need your help today.

You can give and help to rebuild the life of a person who has been devastated by the storm. Here are some of the ways you can help us to help others.

Donate Gift CardsDonate ExpertiseDonate DirectlyAdopt a FamilyAdopt a Church

Adopt a Family: This is a program where you can adopt a family or an individual and directly provide for their needs. We will provide you with a list of needs for you to choose from that you can commit to provide. You can choose from two plans for support, short term or long term.  With short term it can be a one time event or for a period not to exceed three months.  With long term we ask that you commit to supporting a family or individual for a period longer than three but not to exceed twelve months. If interested click here and fill out contact information.

Donate Gift Cards:  This is probably one of the most effective methods of rendering assistance to individuals.  In a disaster scenario the need changes. One day the need is ice and water.  Later the need is food and then it changes again.  Many times once the need is recognized, the response is a day late and dollar short. Gift cards allow for a need to be met in a more expeditious way. It also alleviates organizations from the burden of finding a place for storage of goods that may not move quickly.  People with no home are not in a position to receive much. Gift cards allow people to get goods when they are able to handle replenishing them and answer needs quicker. PLEASE HAVE ALL CARDS SHIPPED TO THE CHURCH'S P.O. BOX  attn: Disaster Center

Donate Directly: The easiest and most effective way to give at the present time is to donate money.  The needs of people affected by the disaster require assistance in buying large and costly purchases of furniture, bedding, appliances, etc.  We would like to be able to assist with the most critical needs of families in the coming months and need your financial assistance to do that.  Make checks or money orders payable to: FMBC Disaster Fund and mail to the church's P.O. Box.  A receipt will be mailed in 2 to 4 weeks.

Donate Expertise:  If you are skilled in a particular area and are willing to come and lend your talent and time to help rebuild, we can use you!  We will assist you in securing housing for the time you come to work in the area.  We will also line up work for you to use your skills while you are here with us. If interested in doing this click here and fill out contact information.

Adopt a Church : This program allows a church or individual to provide assistance and support to a church that has been devastated by Hurricane Katrina.  For example, First Missionary Baptist Church, of Bay St. Louis, recently completed the renovation of their facility.  Their facility survived the Hurricane, but their congregation is scattered all over the country.  Insurance would have covered the loss of their building, however, there is no insurance to cover the loss of a displaced congregation.  This congregation will need help paying their mortgage until their community is rebuilt.   There are still other churches that need assistance with the repair and replacement of various things lost as a result of this disaster.
